Behind the scenes – staged fashion photography in the forrest

Posted on July 24, 2010 by Ed

Behind the scenes of a shoot titled “Breaking free”, Grunewald forrest, Berlin Germany. Camera used is a Mamiya RB67 (gotta love it). Flashes triggered by dont-wanna-live-without Pocketwizards. I hope you enjoy.

    @stayinert hey …
    @stayinert hey thanks for the comment :) well the mamiya has a pc chord jack (watch 0:30, you can see it its on the right side of the lens), that can be attached to a PW to trigger it. but i switched to chord halfway through the shoot, because my PW batteries were dead (which happens like once a year lol)

    @Damour5H hey man :) thanks for your comment. As you can see in the final shots, the flash light is way overpowering the ambient light. i was using a bowens with a softbox for the main light and then for the kickers (some shots had one, some had two), i used little speedlights about 1-1.5 stops higher than the main light.

    Hey man, thanks i …
    Hey man, thanks i appreciate it and im glad you like it. I love that camera and personally i shoot with a 90 or the 110 depending on the occasion. The 180 might Be actually a little Long for you if you wanna do journalistic stuff.. Also you have to realize that it is also more of an amateur / lover Thing, if you want to make Money with (like i do) Fashion photography, then Digital is your Best Bet. As much ad i Love the mamiya, i Never use it for Jobs.

    i watched preatty …
    i watched preatty much all of your video and they are great. I am thinking of getting a mamiya rb67, because i only have a digital D90 and the quality of the image is never even close to the analogic camera. I am an amateur photographer, would be ok if i get it with a 180mm lense for shooting people like you do and for sort of travel/photojournalism type of photography? Or i should get another lense…i am tight on badget. Thanks
