iPhone Portrait Photography Crash Course | How to take great images with your iPhone or Cell Phone

Posted on September 11, 2010 by Ed

I made this video to show iPhone users, as well as all cell phone camera users, how to take great portraits without any additional lighting equipment or gear. By knowing a few basic principles about exposure and lighting, you really can take great photos with just your phone’s camera. Many of the images I took were at lower resolutions (less than 1MP), and I will even make some great suggestions on which Apps to use for post processing. I will have more information about this shoot which can be found on my blog at: http://www.michaelthemaven.com. Enjoy!

    One thing not …
One thing not mentioned in the video, and I don’t think I saw Michael doing it – Another way to avoid camera shake on the iPhone – Press and hold the shutter button until you’re ready to take the shot, then release it to take the shot. Not only helps you time your shots better, but lifting your finger off the phone, as apposed to tapping on the phone creates less shake. Great tutorial Michael.

    Woah! I liked the F …
Woah! I liked the F stopers video but you just simplified it. When im teaching photography, students are always gear oriented thinking that a expensive camera takes better photos. What they do not realize is that its all about lighting. That is what Photo stands for in ‘photo’graphy.

Keep up the great video Micheal! :D
