I think both are great photos. But I do prefer Candid because it look far more natural.

candid is always more interesting. some photgraphers do both. our friends are having a couple and the man does the boring posed pictures and the wife does all the candids

I think it’s best to get a mixture of both. The candid ones look great but you might end up missing our on getting photos with people that you really wanted to. It’s always nice to have a few posed family shots with the parents, siblings, grandparents, etc. that people will be able to keep forever. You also want to have a few posed shots of your bridal party and you and your husband so you know that you will have some good photos (without someone with their eyes closed or something).
It’s also good to have candid ones as well to capture the day and the excitement. Often these turn out really well too.

You want someone that is good at both. There will be shots at the reception especially that you will want that aren't posed and are candids. The pictures after the wedding will be posed shots.

I'm getting married in September and we chose candid! We find it more natural looking so if that's what your looking for i suggest candid! congrats and have fun with the planning!

Why don’t you ask the photographer who does more candid photos if he would be willing to do some posed photos, too?

Our photographer does more candids and is a photojournalist. However, before we booked him, I asked if he would do posed photos. He said that is the #1 question he gets asked.

Candids. The only posed shots I like are the "Scattered" shots, here every memeber of the weddng party is standing in a different place and posed a different way.

I definitely say candids. All of our posed pictures look forced and uncomfortable, the ones I really loved were the candids, and I've heard similar things from friends.

you need some of both. It's great to have the candids, but you are going to want one with everyone in the wedding party, and that's going to have to be posed.

Posed are usually better. Candid pictures can look very bad.

i think both are great. you want to have posed, semi serious poses but at the same time have candid, fun pictures. capture life as it happens in a way. some will have to be candid because of the ceremony it self. those can’t be posed and the reception.

i would try to get a mix of both, if you go with the posed photographer you can put out disposables for the candid shots
you’re definitely going to want posed shots because then you can be sure you get pics with all of the important people in your life… but the candid ones are more fun to look at later

Posed. You will get enough candid photos from friends and family. The problem with "candid" photography is that it's not. My sister paid $7,000 for a well known candid photographer and then learned that they are actually posed to look candid. It really takes a lot away from it. She doesn't have many group shots and the ones she does have her gown isn't fully visible.

It is best to have both! You will enjoy the candid shots more than looking at the posed ones.

Candids with a few formals! When I look at someone’s wedding pictures, I flip quickly though the formals…they’re boring and fake. I love looking at candids! They capture the true atmosphere of the wedding…they’ll evoke memories like the formals won’t. Go candid!

From the pictures that we have, the only ones I love are the candids or the "posed candids" (like where you’ll be kissing or looking in each others eyes).

I do not really like the formal pictures with the family all that much. They are boring.

NOTE: Candids taken from guests are usually horrible. The lighting is terrible in reception halls and professionals know how to deal with that.
